A capping scratcher is used to break open the caps in honey comb to make it possible to extract the honey. Usefull to hit the low caps even when using an uncapping knife.
The capping scratcher is also usefull when inspecting brood for varroa, enabling the beekeeper to stab drone cells and quickly pull out pupae for inspection.
